I remember it was the spring 1982. There was a new toy fad going on. It was a small electronic truck powered by a single AA battery called a STOMPER. Everyday we'd be in the playground, all the other boys would be playing with their little toy trucks. I begged for one, but my parents wouldn't buy me one. I finally got them to let me take my $5 out of my savings account (the only money that was there) to let me buy one. I told them it was my money and if they wouldn't buy it for me then I would buy one myself. I finally got my STOMPER, and life was good.

I often had wondered what had happened to them. I had forgot what they were called, and couldn't find any sign of them on google until tonight when I started thinking seriously about how to figure out what they were called. I am really surprised that this toy has not made a comeback. It was hugely popular then, and I don't see why boys of today would not enjoy the same kind of simple pleasure that STOMPERS provided my friends and I.
I am tempted to buy one off ebay to add to my collection of things behind gas doors
